Hailing from Pune, Maharashtra, Saniya Patwardhan, a third-year BTech student of Mechanical Engineering, calls the last two years the most happening years of her life. “IITGN gave me all the opportunities that I wished for – be it sports, cultural activities or academics,” expresses Saniya.

On a free day, you would either find her preparing for a match or for dance. In September 2021, Saniya’s selection as a Goalkeeper for the Gandhinagar District Football team in the State’s Football tournament was her “dream come true” moment. She attributes her success to the mentorship and training she got from IITGN. Interested in classical and western dance forms, she has participated in various competitions at the institute. She believes participating in these contests has helped her boost her confidence and gave her a chance to say bye to stage fright. In addition, working as the core of the Marketing team for Blithchron 2022, the annual cultural festival of IITGN, has helped her inculcate leadership skills and time management.

Saniya’s most fascinating project work evolved as a part of a summer research internship at IIT Delhi, wherein she worked on implementing a novel control law for a Quadruped robot that would reject disturbance.
