Where there is a will, there is a way. Inspired by his mother, Jayesh Khanna decided to crack one of the most gruelling exams in the World, i.e. IIT-JEE. His efforts and hard work paid off when he made his way into IIT Gandhinagar to pursue his BTech in Mechanical Engineering. Jayesh has always been an academic achiever, and his passion for studies bagged him a Scholarship for Academic Excellence in his second year for achieving the highest CPI in his discipline. He states, “The interdisciplinary pedagogy and unrestrictive environment at IITGN have never disappointed me.”
Reminiscing his most valuable time spent at the Institute, Jayesh shares that in his third year, he took up the responsibility of being the Chief Editor of TORQUE magazine, a student-run annual magazine of IITGN, and led a team of 30 students to conceive the design and illustration of the magazine. However, working as the MAPRC Secretary and leading a team of around 25 students to showcase the student life at IITGN on the official ‘IIT Gandhinagar Student Life’ social media handles was a significant milestone of his campus life at IITGN. “During this tenure, the MAPRC team reached newer heights and achieved several milestones such as becoming the first student-run social media page at IITGN to receive the highest organic engagement rate and fastest follower/subscriber growth,” rejoices Jayesh.
Equally interested in extracurricular activities, he was on cloud nine when he won the ‘Data for Social Good Hackathon’, co-organised by the Telangana Government and the University of Massachusetts. In addition, he also reached the semi-final round of the ‘Ernst and Young ML/AI Techathon’, wherein he developed a real-time web application using an interactive Tableau dashboard by integrating analytics and Machine Learning for selective vaccine prioritisation across all Indian districts.
