What is your research area?

I work on the development of fluorescent probes for cellular imaging applications.

Can you share your experience of attending the EMBO Workshop in Italy? What were the key highlights of this international event for you?

Attending the EMBO Workshop in Barga, Italy, was an enriching and inspiring experience. The talks covered exciting advancements in ER biology, and I particularly enjoyed Dr. Gia Voeltz’s session on ER dynamics and organelle interactions. The workshop provided a fantastic opportunity to connect with leading researchers, exchange ideas, and gain new perspectives on my work. Presenting my research on small organic fluorophores for ER and lipid droplets was a great experience, and winning the Best Poster Award made it even more special. Beyond science, the interactive and collaborative atmosphere made it easy to engage in meaningful discussions, explore potential collaborations, and learn from peers. Overall, it was a rewarding experience that broadened my understanding and inspired new directions in my research.

What role did IIT Gandhinagar’s funding and support play in enabling you to participate in this prestigious workshop?

IIT Gandhinagar’s funding and support were instrumental in making my participation in the EMBO Workshop possible. The financial assistance helped cover travel and registration costs, allowing me to attend this prestigious event without financial constraints. Beyond funding, the institute’s encouragement and research environment played a crucial role in shaping my work, which I had the opportunity to present on an international platform. This experience not only enriched my knowledge but also helped me build valuable connections and gain recognition for my research. I am grateful for IIT Gandhinagar’s support in facilitating such opportunities for young researchers.

Winning the poster prize at the workshop is an incredible achievement! How did you prepare for your presentation, and what does this recognition mean to you?

Winning the Best Poster Award at the EMBO Workshop was truly an honor. To prepare, I focused on presenting my research in a clear, engaging, and visually appealing manner. I ensured that my poster told a compelling story, highlighting the key findings and their significance while keeping technical details concise. Moreover, I practiced explaining my work to different audiences, refining my responses based on feedback from colleagues.

This recognition means a lot to me—it validates the effort I’ve put into my research and motivates me to push further. It also opened up valuable discussions with experts in the field, leading to new insights and potential collaborations. Overall, it was a rewarding experience that reinforced my passion for scientific communication and discovery.

How do you think attending international events like this workshop contributes to your academic and professional growth?

Attending international workshops like the EMBO event is invaluable for both academic and professional growth. It provides exposure to cutting-edge research, helping me stay updated on the latest advancements in my field. Engaging with leading scientists and peers allows me to exchange ideas, receive critical feedback, and refine my research approach.

These events also enhance my communication skills, as presenting my work to an international audience challenges me to explain complex concepts clearly. Networking with experts opens doors for future collaborations and potential career opportunities. Overall, such experiences broaden my perspective, inspire new research directions, and strengthen my confidence as a scientist.

What advice would you like to give to the students who have just joined and are willing to attend such conferences, but aren’t aware of the opportunities facilitated by IITGN?

My advice to new students is to actively seek out conference opportunities and make the most of the support available at IIT Gandhinagar. Many prestigious workshops, like the EMBO event, provide incredible learning and networking experiences, but you need to stay informed about application deadlines, travel grants, and funding options. The institute offers financial support for conference participation, so don’t hesitate to reach out to faculty, the academic office, or seniors for guidance. Start by identifying relevant conferences in your field, preparing a strong abstract, and practicing your presentation skills. Engaging in discussions with researchers at these events can open doors to collaborations and new ideas. Most importantly, believe in your work and take the initiative. These experiences can be transformative for your academic and professional journey.
