Continuing its commitment to ensuring food safety and promoting healthy eating, the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) has once again been recognised with the Eat Right Campus Award in the EXEMPLARY category by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) from January 10, 2025 to January 9, 2027.

The FSSAI team conducted a rigorous physical inspection of the entire campus, meticulously evaluating all food outlets, including the three messes on the campus. Their assessment covered critical parameters such as hygiene standards, employee health and safety, water quality, and compliance with FSSAI regulations. They also scrutinised key documents, including FSSAI Certificates, employee records, and water safety certificates, ensuring that all eateries maintained the highest food safety standards.

While expressing her happiness, Prof Sivapriya Kirubakaran, Dean of Student Affairs said “Providing nutritious and high-quality food to the entire IITGN community is not just a priority but also a challenge in maintaining consistent standards. Receiving this exemplary certification from FSSAI is truly overwhelming, and we are immensely grateful to the entire team from the Government of Gujarat FSSAI for their unwavering support. Many congratulations to our dedicated staff, faculty, and vibrant student community for achieving this milestone.”

“This award is a recognition of the tireless efforts of the IITGN community, particularly the mess and eateries staff and student-led committees, who consistently ensure that the highest quality standards are maintained for the food served on campus. We are proud to receive this certification and remain committed to continuously improving our standards and fostering a healthier campus.” Said Prof Naveen Sisodia, Mess warden, IIT Gandhinagar.
