The Health Committee at the institute organised a blood donation camp in association with Gujarat Cancer & Research Institute (GCRI) blood bank, Raktdaata Federation and Ganeshotsav’19 students’ team on the occasion of Teacher’s Day. More than 95 students, faculty, staff and their family members enthusiastically participated in this social drive and donated blood, to increase awareness among individuals.
All donors were given a health card and an appreciation certificate. This health card will be helpful for the donor if he/she needs blood in the future. This time, the Health Committee also gave eco-friendly plantable seed pen, made of recycled paper, which can be planted directly in a pot after it is used.
Harsh Kakdiya from the Health Committee, also instrumental in coordinating the blood donation event, said, “Blood donation is one of purest deeds that one can do as an opportunity of saving or giving new lives. The goal of the camp was simple yet deep. Over 95 students and faculty members visited the camp and donated blood. Some of them were regular donors who donate blood every six months. The camp was a success indeed but the best part of the camp was the smile that students and other donors had on their faces after blood donation.”
