The institute celebrated 5th International Yoga Day today amidst high enthusiasm and fervour. The entire IITGN community, including students, faculty, staff and their families, enthusiastically participated in various activities. The celebrations commenced with the demonstration and practice of yoga aasanas, followed by an interactive session on Relevance of Yoga in Everyday Life by Yoga Expert Dr Shikha Saraogi. The participants were informed about the specific benefits of the aasanas and how to perform them.
Dr Saraogi acquainted the participants with theoretical aspects of Yoga such as types of exercises and their benefits in day-to-day life. Describing the art and its importance in the current fast-paced life, Dr Shikha said, “Yoga is a disciplined lifestyle for far-reaching benefits. It is the most effective tool to manage stress.” She also demonstrated quick pranayama and relaxation techniques to the participants which can be practiced during their regular office/academic routine to de-stress body and mind.
The event ended with an enthusiastic round of quiz on Yoga to brush up people’s knowledge on the same.
IITGN has been organising Yoga Day celebrations as an annual event ever since its commencement in the year 2015, with an aim to create widespread awareness about the benefits of this ancient Indian science in day-to-day life.
