Yogesh Goyal, a 2012-batch alumnus of Chemical Engineering of the institute, has been awarded the prestigious Schmidt Science Fellowship. He is among the 14 Schmidt Science Fellows who have been selected from across the world after a rigorous evaluation based on scientific curiosity, extraordinary achievement, intellectual spark and global ambitions.
The Schmidt Science Fellows Programme is conducted in partnership with the Rhodes trust and focuses on scientific leadership and interdisciplinary research. The programme is aimed at developing the next generation of leaders and innovators in the fields of natural sciences, engineering, mathematics and computing.
As part of the fellowship, Yogesh will work towards addressing critical medical challenges of the society using novel theoretical and computational approaches. A gold medallist at IITGN, Yogesh holds a PhD from the Princeton University.
This is an extraordinary achievement. It not only brings glory to the institute but also validates our approach towards exemplary undergraduate education, our emphasis on solving problems that have societal impact and our adoption of a hands-on culture in almost all of our coursework. We congratulate Yogesh and look forward to his progress on the research challenges that he will be undertaking.
