IIT Gandhinagar and IIIT Vadodara signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on October 3, 2024, laying the foundation for a significant academic collaboration. This partnership opens the door for exciting opportunities for students and faculty from both institutes to engage in joint research and learning experiences. Prof Rajat Moona, Director, IIT Gandhinagar and Professor Dharmendra Singh, Director, IIIT Vadodara, signed the MoU.

A key highlight of this MoU is the Summer Research Internship Programme (SIRP) at IIT Gandhinagar. IIIT Vadodara students now have the chance to apply for the programme during the summer break. Two students will be selected annually, based on meeting the programme’s eligibility criteria, and will receive a stipend from IIT Gandhinagar upon successfully completing the programme. This opportunity provides IIIT Vadodara students with hands-on research experience at one of the country’s leading institutions.

Additionally, the MoU emphasises faculty research collaboration. Faculty from IIIT Vadodara can spend one month or more at IIT Gandhinagar each year to conduct research in partnership with IITGN faculty. Two faculty members will be supported under this programme each year.

Beyond these initiatives, both institutes will continue to explore additional academic and research opportunities. These may include submitting joint research proposals, undertaking consultancy projects, and collaborating on initiatives that support both students and faculty in areas of mutual interest.

This MoU strengthens the academic ties between IIT Gandhinagar and IIIT Vadodara, with the SIRP programme and research collaboration standing as the key pillars of this dynamic partnership, offering new and valuable opportunities for both students and faculty.
