The discipline of Chemistry, IIT Gandhinagar, with tireless support from student volunteers, has successfully organised the 3rd National Conference in Chemistry on February 12-13. The conference was hosted by IITGN with support from Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), Gujarat Council on Science & Technology (GUJCOST), GE, Spinco Biotech Pvt Ltd, DP Analytics, Toshvin Analytical Pvt Ltd, Sterling Chemicals, Finar Chemicals Ltd, Gurukrupa Enterprises, and Inkarp Instruments Pvt Ltd. About 200 faculty and students from several recognised universities participated in the two-day national-level event. A total of 21 distinguished speakers from reputed institutes presented their research findings in six technical sessions. Apart from this, 75 students presented their research work through poster presentations. Out of which, five best-performing students received ACS posters whereas the other five received cash prize awards.
It is also worth mentioning that the event was organised by keeping the environment at the centre. No plastic, in the form of bottles or bags, was used during the entire event. In fact, the speakers were given plant mementos as a token of appreciation and all the participants received cloth bags as a conference bag. The abstract book was given as a PDF in a pen drive avoiding the need for printing the abstract book.
The event was organised by Dr Sriram Kanvah and Dr Sivapriya Kirubakaran, both associate professors in the Chemistry discipline of IITGN.
