As someone who likes to accept challenges, Yashi Gaur, a fourth-year BTech student of Civil Engineering at IITGN, decided to appear for inarguably one of the toughest exams in India for undergraduates – JEE Advanced. Yashi worked very hard, leaving no stone unturned, cracking the gruelling examination, and carved her own way to reach IIT Gandhinagar. Hailing from Rajasthan’s Jaipur, her long-term goal is to be in a position where she can bring positive change into society and add value to it from her deeds.
Recalling her most fascinating project work at IITGN, she said, “I really enjoyed working on the project ‘Reducing the carbon footprints of IITGN by 30%’. We adopted two ways for it: Firstly, by increasing the number of solar panels and secondly, by introducing electric vehicles on the campus.”
Yashi, from the very first year, has been actively involved in many extra-curricular activities happening at the institute. In addition, she remarked that she enjoyed going to the Inter-IIT competition in her first year, which enabled her to interact with her seniors as well as with people from other institutes. “I would attribute my top learnings at IITGN, which are time management, dealing with pressure, and teamwork, to the learning culture outside the class that the institute provides,” she adds.
In her free time, she likes to travel with her friends, watch movies, dance, and daydream.
