The construction work for gate 1 and 2 of IIT Gandhinagar has been completed and they were inaugurated on 18th April 2019. Both the gates reflect a design philosophy consistent with the boundary wall design of the Institute. They are equipped with a security office, provision for purified drinking water, public washrooms, waiting area for visitors’ vehicles, and has an attractive architectural rendition through exposed brickwork. One of the unique architectural features of the gate design is ‘Ghisi’ -a technique of creating uniform parallel grooves on stones. The significant philosophy of maximizing usage of natural light and water reuse are also a part of the IITGN gate design.
