A total of 54 participants from all 27 Community Science Centres (CSCs) of Gujarat visited the institute for an experiential STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) learning workshop hosted by the Centre for Creative Learning (CCL). The five-day workshop was hosted during May 21-25 with support from Gujarat Council on Science & Technology (GUJCOST).

Aimed at capacity building of the participants in terms of their scientific temperament and hands-on skills, the workshop saw enthusiastic participation from the CSCs. The participants were introduced to some of the 200+ unique activities and models created by CCL. Consequently, they will be able to impart Science and Math education in an interesting and engaging manner.

Late last year, CCL was invited to deliver a talk and attend the annual review meeting of all CSCs. Following an overwhelming response from the audience and demand for more such workshops, Department of Science & Technology, Government of Gujarat, and GUJCOST decided to send the CSC coordinators/science communicators for a residential workshop with CCL.

Giving more information about the workshop, Prof Manish Jain, associate teaching professor in CCL, IITGN said, “All CSC coordinators of Gujarat will not only spend time tinkering with CCL’s specially-curated STEM activity box but also take it back to their respective centres and continue the tinkering chain. CCL plans to select a handful of enthusiastic participants from this workshop and invite them again after a brief break for a much more intensive, two-month learning period.”
