The Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN), in partnership with MUBI and Alliance Française, Ahmedabad, is proud to announce the second edition of the Art@IITGN Film Festival, set to take place from March 29-31, 2025, at the IITGN campus. This prestigious event is part of the Art@IITGN initiative, which aims to promote artistic engagement both within the campus and in the wider community.
Programmed by renowned filmmaker Don Palathara, the festival will showcase a diverse and compelling lineup of international cinema, independent Indian features, French New Wave classics, and critically acclaimed short films. In addition to screenings, the festival will offer a series of enriching masterclasses, panel discussions, and interactive sessions with prominent filmmakers, cinematographers, and other industry professionals.
Key highlights include masterclasses on directing actors by Pushpendra Singh and on cinematography by Tojo Xavier. A panel discussion will feature Sumanth Bhat, Jithin Isaac Thomas, Nithyan Martin, and Himadri Mahesh, in conversation with Ahnas Muhammad. Additionally, Subhadra Mahajan will engage in a discussion with Srijitha Cheruvupally.
The film screenings will be hosted across three locations on the IITGN campus: the Jibaben Patel (Kanisa) Memorial Auditorium, Academic Block 10/103, and the newly established PC (Panchangana). In collaboration with MUBI, the festival also offers a special benefit to university students nationwide, providing them a 60-day free subscription to the streaming platform. Additionally, a special program on video art has also been organised, which will feature the works of artists like Mithu Sen, Gigi Scaria, Riyas Komu, Sumedh Rajendran, and Ramith Kunhimangalam. Kunhimangalam will also be attending the festival in person.
Prof Jaison A Manjaly, Jasubhai Memorial Chair Professor, Humanities and Social Sciences (Jointly with Cognitive and Brain Sciences department), is serving as the Festival Director, and Tony Xavier and Himangshu Kothari are the Festival Coordinator and Design and Marketing Head, respectively.
