The IIT Gandhinagar Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre (IIEC) buzzed with energy and ideas as it hosted Finnovate Hack 2025, on November 7 & 8, 2025, a 24-hour fintech hackathon that brought together some of Gujarat’s brightest young innovators to reimagine the future of finance.
Focusing on real-world challenges faced by finance teams in large organizations, the hackathon encouraged participants to apply cutting-edge technology and creative thinking to industry-defined problem statements. The event was organized in collaboration with Adani Enterprises, whose experts provided authentic datasets and practical insights to guide the teams.
Prof Rajat Moona, Director, IITGN inaugurated the hackathon. In his address, Prof Rajat Moona emphasised the role of collaborative learning in solving complex problems, saying that “hackathons such as Finnovate provide students with a unique opportunity to apply their knowledge, creativity, and teamwork to real industry challenges, bridging the gap between theory and practice.”
“Events like Finnovate Hack bring academia and industry closer in a way that sparks real innovation. We look forward to seeing how these ideas can shape the next phase of fintech solutions.” saidShri Siddharth Purohit, SVP, Fellow, and Chief Data Officer at Adani, speaking at the inauguration.
He further added that we are always open to innovative ideas from young minds and looks forward to supporting and mentoring them in addressing real-world challenges.
Over the next 24 hours, participants from leading institutions, including SVNIT, PDEU, IIIT Vadodara, GTU, and several Government Engineering Colleges (GECs), worked intensively to develop impactful solutions under the mentorship of experts from both academia and industry. The atmosphere was one of creativity, collaboration, and competitive spirit as teams tackled complex financial datasets and explored applications of AI, data analytics, and automation in finance.
After several rounds of evaluation, Team “The Hackstreet Boys” from IITGN emerged as the winner for Problem Statement 1: AI Agent for Expense Anomaly and Compliance. Two other IITGN teams — “Neural” and “RTXCORE” — secured runner-up positions in both problem statements, underscoring the institute’s strong technical presence and innovative mindset. The hackathon concluded with participants sharing key takeaways and exploring future collaborations with mentors and industry experts. The event not only celebrated student innovation but also strengthened IITGN’s vision of fostering an ecosystem where technology, entrepreneurship, and industry intersect to drive meaningful impact.
