SUMMER INSTITUTE ON SOCIAL JUSTICE PRACTICE AND RESEARCH
The institute and the University of Saskatchewan (UoS), Canada hosted a two-week Summer Institute Workshop on Social Justice: Practice and Research during June 19-30 at IITGN campus. The Summer Institute aims at providing an interdisciplinary forum for participants to discuss and learn different ways of applying research towards achieving social justice. The emphasis is on research methods (qualitative, quantitative and mixed) and writing to enable participants to build skills to advocate for social change on the themes on gender, marginalc groups and sustainable development. The institute, along with IIT Roorkee and IIT Madras, signed an MoU with the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology for academic and research cooperation with the Portuguese universities. The MoU was signed in presence of the two Prime Ministers on June 26, 2017. Prof Sudhir K Jain, Director, IITGN and Prof Jaison Manjaly, IITGN represented the institute. Prior to signing of the MoU, a delegation from the institute also visited various universities in Portugal.
