It was truly a memorable evening for the audience to witness the priceless words, character-building, life and dialogues of Swami Vivekananda in the form of a stage play, jointly organised by the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) and the Ministry of Culture, Government of India (GoI) on March 18, 2023, at the IITGN campus. The play was presented by a team of artists of Rashtrakavi Ramdhari Singh ‘Dinkar’ Smriti Nyas, New Delhi, including five members from IITGN.

Prof Rajat Moona, Director, IITGN; Shri Neeraj Kumar, President, Rashtrakavi Ramdhari Singh ‘Dinkar’ Smriti Nyas; and Dr Keshubhai Desai, an illustrious writer in Gujarati literature; graced the occasion with their presence and commenced the programme by lighting a lamp.

The play was a tribute to Swami Vivekananda’s invaluable life lessons and teachings. It presented a series of dialogues and scenes that showcased the great thinker’s timeless wisdom, including his groundbreaking speech at the 1893 World’s Parliament of Religions in Chicago, USA. The play brought to life the inspirational messages of Swami Vivekananda that continue to resonate with people of all ages and backgrounds. It rightly brought forth Swami Vivekananda’s emphasis on the importance of character-building, self-discipline, and a deep understanding of one’s own identity.

It was a great pleasure watching some of the life incidents of Swami Vivekananda, which were brilliantly portrayed by the talented artists from the Smriti Nyas. I would especially like to congratulate the five IITGN members who, with their exceptional performances, contributed to the success of the play. Rajat Moona

Director, IITGN

I urge all students and viewers present here to understand the life lessons of Swami Vivekananda, get inspired by his life and walk on his path to succeed in life. President, Rashtrakavi Ramdhari Singh ‘Dinkar’ Smriti Nyas

The play was designed to be immersive, engaging, and thought-provoking, providing the audience with a glimpse into the life of Swami Vivekananda. The beautiful stage set-up, lighting and music created an atmosphere that was faithful to the period and brought the characters to life in a way that was both authentic and engaging.
