The physics discipline at the institute hosted a two-day symposium on Frontier Problems in Physics during November 20-21. Eminent scientists delivered lectures on outstanding research areas in theoretical and experimental physics during the symposium.

Prof Rajesh Gopakumar from ICTS, Bengaluru talked about String Theory and Quantum Gravity; Prof Biswarup Mukhopadhyaya from HRI, Allahabad spoke about High Energy Particle Physics; Prof Amlan J Pal of IACS, Kolkata discussed Nanoscience, Organic Electronics, and Spintronics; and Prof Tarun Souradeep from IUCAA, Pune had thrown some light on Cosmology and Gravitational Waves.
